This Must Be Swan Lake

I got these shots from Gyle Road just off Interstate 5 in Corning. Its a very small Lake for so many white swans. Before I got out of my van they all had their heads down in the water. As soon as I got out they all raised their heads as if to say "cheeeese". I've never seen this many swans before. (Just click on the pictures for a larger view).

The Veterans Cemetery in Igo

I had a delivery in Igo today and when I passed the Veterans Cometery I couldn't resist these shots. The first picture shows some grave sites. The second and third pictures shows the views from the cemetery. The forth picture is the monument you see as your enter the cemetery. Most likely Kathy and I will have our ashes placed here when the time comes. (Just click on the pictures for a larger view).

Snow in Paynes Creek

It rained all the way from Red Bluff to Paynes Creek until I hit 3,000 feet and it snowed the rest of the way. Here is what it looked like on Highway 36 East before my turn-off on Canyon View Loop which is about seven miles from Mineral. My camera batteries ran low so I was unable to capture a picture of what it looked like on Canyon View Loop Road on which there was about three inches of snow. Sure was glad to make that stop and get back down the mountain (I didn't have chains nor did I have my wife's 4-wheel drive Tahoe). Don't know yet how my colleagues made out going North to Yreka, Northeast to Alturas, and Northwest to Weaverville where I'm sure it was much worse weather. We're in the midst of a very wet storm which they say will be pounding California for the next couple of weeks. (Just click on the picture for a larger view).

The Canada Goose

I took this picture one morning on my way to work of this large flock of wild Canada Geese. They were landing for a days rest on one of my Cottonwood Creek Ranch pastures. These geese fly as high as the jets fly and we wonder why their wing tips don't freeze off. By the time I get back this way again this flock would be gone to wherever they go for migration. Views From Paynes Creek

My recent delivery to Paynes Creek took me almost to Mineral which was about 3,000 feet elevation. On that particular day it was very foggy until I got to about 2,000 feet elevation. If you turn on Ponderosa Way off highway 36 East you will come to a small community of houses and mobile homes and my final destination. The first view is from the home of my delivery point. You will note that what looks like a large lake in the distance is in fact fog. Below that fog is Cottonwood, Anderson and Redding. In the second view you can see Mount Shasta peeking about the fog. The third view is when I started down the mountain back to the Red Bluff area. (Just click on the pictures for larger views).
