The Tree of Abandoned Shoes

If you travel west along highway 36 from Red Bluff to Platina you can't help but notice this oak tree decorated with abandoned shoes. I've passed it many times making a delivery to the Wild Horse Ranch or the Russian Monastery or to other recipients in Platina. But this was the first time I decided to capture it on film. Just who started this or when it got started is unknown to me, but from the looks of some of the shoes it was more than a few years ago. It was getting late in the evening so the pictures came out a little dark. (Just click on the pictures for a larger view).

The View From Wildcat Road

These two shots were taken atop Wildcat Road today when I made a delivery to the Darrah Springs Fish Hatchery in Paynes Creek. The snow capped mountain in the background is Mt. Lassen. It was a beautiful Spring day. Made me feel like going fishing which I have neglected for too long. (Just click on the pictures for a larger view).

Back Roads of Cottonwood

My first stop yesterday morning was off this muddy road about a half mile from Gas Point. I was greeted by a Pit Bull but the owner came out and put her inside. Naturally it was also raining. (Just click on the pictures for a larger view).
