Dog Crossing

I make a delivery stop at this place at least once a week. Its in the very small community of Flournoy (Corning area) and the folks that live here are really nice people. They have three friendly dogs named Bob, Bing and Dolly. They were not present at the time I took this picture, but you will see them later on. Off To Work I Go

Here I go off to work for that "few dollars more". Let me see, I got my maps, my pocket PC, my radio, and of course my Dog Biscuits (for protection only). Click on the picture to enlarge it. I wonder what adventures awaits me today........

Road Kill Willie

About a month or so ago I met a very colorful young bearded man while making a delivery in the little mountainous community of Platina. He was outside a small grocery store where I stopped to get directions to my delivery address. He knew where it was and preceded to show me. He referred to himself as “Road Kill Willie” and told me all about the area. Sorry to say I didn’t have my camera at the time so I couldn’t take any pictures. Today I was in the same area; and although I didn’t see Willie, my delivery took me by the dirt road he lived on. As you can see, the name of the dirt road is none other than “Road Kill Way”. Bucks At Dawn

I took this picture early this morning of three large Bucks having my lawn for breakfast. They are friends now but wait until rutting season when they become opponents.

The Beginning

Today is Friday, July 20, 2007, and I begin my Hiway Journals Blog. I hope it will be filled with interesting people, places and things I see along my GSO Route. My Regular Route takes me to these Northern California towns and communities: Red Bluff, Corning, Los Molinos, Gerber, Proberta, Vina, Pasakenta, Paynes Creek, and Platina. The roads I travel are both paved and gravel and they lead me to some very remote areas.
